Barrington Council adopts AFSCME compensation ordinance unanimously

NJ BARRINGTON — Barrington Caucus advances ordinances and addresses plant closure. The Borough Council voted 5-0 to adopt an ordinance fixing compensation for certain employees covered by the AFSCME, Council 63, Local 3528 contract. Mayor Hanson reported that the International Paper plant, which employs 130 workers with 8 Barrington residents affected, will close September 24.
The council plans first-reading introductions of ordinances addressing Class III and Class V cannabis tax and filming regulations. Engineer Greg Evans reported progress on multiple road and infrastructure projects, including FY 2024 Austin Avenue Phase 4 improvements anticipated to begin July 20.
