Barrington lowers affordable housing trigger to 5 units

NJ BARRINGTON — Barrington Planning Board adopts amendment lowering affordable-housing threshold from ten to five units. The board voted 8 to 0, with board member Tyler Orlando abstaining, to find the amendment consistent with the master plan and then adopt the revised rules. Vice-Chair Cilurso moved the amendment, with board member Ed Harrell seconding.
The new threshold requires residential developments with five units or more to include at least 20 percent affordable housing, down from the previous 10-unit threshold. The board also extended the 301 Tavistock project review to July and unanimously approved roof-mounted solar panels at 1 Commerce Drive.
